There is liability for the transaction depend on the 3DS response.


You are protected when ECIFlag values are 05,02 or 06, 01 and CAVV value is not null.


“Authenticated Transaction”

 

  • EciFlag/ECIFlag - 05 & 02
  • Enrolled? (frictionless only) - Y
  • Authentication Status (PAResStatus) - Y
  • CAVV Present? - Yes
  • Authentication Result -AUTHENTICATED
  • 3DS Protection? - Y
  • Freedom Pay Guidance - Proceed with the transaction. (3DS Authentication has been successfully completed).

 

“Attempted Transaction (Stand In)”

 

  • EciFlag/ECIFlag - 06 & 01
  • Enrolled? (frictionless only) - Y
  • Authentication Status (PAResStatus) - A
  • CAVV Present? - Yes
  • Authentication Result -ATTEMPTED
  • 3DS Protection - Y
  • Freedom Pay Guidance - Proceed with the transaction. (3DS has been requested by the Merchant, but the cardholder's issuing bank is in a non-3DS-mandated region. The Card Schemes "Stand in" to authenticate the transaction and provide the 3DS data).

 

“Failed Authentication”

(3DS Authentication has not been completed correctly. The cardholder may have entered and incorrect challenge OTP).

“Card Not Applicable for Benefits (Corporate and Prepaid Cards)”
